If there’s one thing I can't resist, it’s an opportunity to explore culture through food and travel. Whether it's visiting a small German village with my parents -- from whence my great-grandmother emigrated, going to China and Hong Kong, where my husband has his roots, or simply picking out the ripest tomatoes at my local farmers market to make an authentic Pomodoro sauce, I love to learn about culture and its related history. My co-adventurers are my three adult children, who are always ready to try unfamiliar places and flavors. I am also active in the St. Andrews Episcopal Church choir, boating, and am penning a political thriller.

Community participation

When time permits, I teach sailing at the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle. I sing in the choir at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
