My Approach

At The Nolan Group, we subscribe to the ‘three bucket theory,’ which holds that everything in life can be grouped into one of three categories:

  • Bucket one: Things we can control
  • Bucket two: Things we can influence
  • Bucket three: Things we can neither control nor influence

We choose to focus mostly on bucket one, by working with our clients to better manage the financial decisions and behaviors that are within their control. And we do so by focusing on preparedness.

By implementing an approach that focuses clients on bucket one, we help position their mindsets to make financial decisions that their ‘future selves’ will be thankful for. In our experience, we believe that when you apply this focus to decisions, your life can be better for it. We coach our clients to strategize around bucket one not only when it comes to their finances, but in everything they do, which in turn helps to reduce stress.
