Why choose a CFP®?

The CFP® designation requires candidates to have a bachelor’s degree, 6,000 hours of qualifying experience, to adhere to their standards and principles and pass an exam. In addition, there is a 30-hour continuing education requirement that must be met every two years to keep the designation.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) owns the CFP® certification mark, the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification mark, and the CFP® certification mark (with plaque design) logo in the United States, which it authorizes use of by individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
