Community participation

Community involvement is central to my life in Shreveport, Louisiana as a female financial advisor. I am actively involved with the Northwest Louisiana Chapter of Slow Food, supporting local farms, businesses, and food education while encouraging people to know where their food comes from. I am also working to convert my front yard into a community garden in the Highland neighborhood, often considered a food desert, to share fresh produce with residents. Each year, my team and I volunteer with the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank during the National Day of Service to help address food insecurity across our region.

Interests

  • I am passionate about food. I love cooking at home for friends and family, but I also enjoy trying new restaurants in town.
  • I am an avid gardener. I am currently involved in converting my entire front yard into a sustainable permaculture garden.
  • My favorite places to travel include New Orleans and the Florida Keyes.
  • I am an animal lover. I have 6 orange tabbies named Marvin, Virgil, Gavin, Levon, & Trevor and Stevie.
